History
Based on Humans

Humans are the most numerous of the civilized humanoid races of Ardûs and as such can be found in nearly every corner of the world. They are versatile and highly adaptive to any environment and situation, allowing for humans to have easily spread their number and nations around the world.

Description

Humans share many common traits, with the only great exception being their half-elven offspring. Humans come in many shapes, sizes, and of varying strength and intelligence. They're highly adaptable and versatile. Humans are generally capable of excelling at anything.

Personality

Humans trend towards all alignments. Some uphold ideals of the gods of law, others prefer freedom without restraint, and even those who seek power even should it bring harm to another. Short-lived in comparison to the other races, humans take life at a quicker pace than some of their neighboring races. Spreading their nations and influence with incredible speed. Humanity tends to build wide before they do tall, although exceptions to the rule exist, as with all humans no two among them are exactly alike.

Humans are driven, have goals, and ultimately seek to spread their influence across the world. They can be ambitious and noble, deeply compassionate, or destructive and evil.

Calandrian
Formerly part of the Thessian culture, the Calandrians broke off some time ago, creating their own culture in the eastern reaches of Estora focused on warfare and tactical combat. What once started as a rag-tag group of rebellious folk soon turned into a vast empire. Since the fall of the Immortal Emperor, the empire has shattered although still barely clinging on to order via military might. Calandrian people share typical traits found among Thessians, the pale to deep-tanned skin, with varying shades of brown to jet-black hair. Thessian masculine names include Atanas, Kliment, Teodorkov; feminine names include Despina, Ksenija, Nataša.

Kasmian
Primarily found in the northern expanse of Estora the Kasmian peoples once attempted. A monotheistic peoples who worship the sun, tales of good vs evil, of noble knights are commonplace among them. The Kasmian people are typically pale to pinkish in skin tone, thin built with blond, red, and light brown hair. Darker skin tones are not found among the Kasmian ancestries. Kasmian masculine names include Aethelmaer, Pecthelm, Weidrek; feminine names include Akelda, Edithaela, Hrodwynnith.

Thessian
A scientific people, the Thessians of southern Estora have managed to find equilibrium with their faith and the pursuit of the sciences. Known for their rich culture and trade goods, these folk are often credited for the creation of the Trade Common language. Thessians are typically range anywhere from pale to deep-tanned, with varying shades of brown to jet-black hair. Masculine Thessian names include Atham, Imnestos, Pausanius; feminine names include Berenikke, Cilissa, Chrysothemis.

Varcian
Varcian people and culture originated on Estora, having undergone a series of territorial wars leading to the changing of leadership over the ages. These peoples reclaimed their kingdom at the end of the Varcian Reclamation Wars. Typically, Varcians trend towards more free-spirited personalities and due to finding relative peace, prefer diplomatic resolution wherever possible. The typical Varcian is lean or athletic with olive skin, dark-brown to jet-black hair and brown or hazel eyes. Darker and more pale skin tones are not rare but just not common. Varcian surnames are used only for noble bloodlines, to denote a role (such as Virgílio Luthier), or a homeland identifier (such as Demir of Portarosa), otherwise one would be known by given titles outside of their name. Masculine Varcian names include Adelmar, Cezário, Túliorandir; feminine names include Adelina, Constâncália, Raissadraena.

History

The origins of humans is attributed to Solvain and the lunar twins Ecliptia and Lunarael, and has been so for as long as anyone can remember.

The eldest of the elves in the clans hardest to reach, along with a few ancient scholars claim that humans first came to Ardûs as the children of Tiamat. Hints of this fact can be found in long-forgotten tombs, well hidden wall-carvings in paths untraveled, and a few rare artifacts in circulation today. The vast majority of humans would consider this to be heretical at worst and childish imagination at best. That being said, both the elven sages and silent scholars largely agree, unknowingly to the other, that this information is best kept suppressed and hidden from humanity at-large, and with time, hopefully forgotten.
