Queen Tatiana Castevel (PRONOUNCED: /ta.tja.na/ tat-YAH-nah) is the queen of Varcia and founder of the Adventurer's Society.
Born in the year 948 AE, Tatiana succeeded her mother’s rule at the age of sixteen and has justly ruled over Varcia in the eight years since.
It is common knowledge that the expansion and growth of Varcian territories is due to the efforts of both Queen Tatiana and her late mother, Queen Rosaria. Common rumors which have aided in the respect gained by Queen Tatiana include being known for having a cool demeanor, having thorough and just decision making, being an accomplished scholar, and even rumors of her having joined her Knights of the Rose in the field of battle.
Description
Personality
Relationships
Tatiana is the only child to Rosaria Castevel and Maurcoiran Castevel and as such enjoyed a lavish upbringing that would see her as the center of her parent's affection. They would see that her every need was met while providing for her the best private educators that money could afford. Was gifted with clothes and bedding made of the finest imported silks, oft throwing lavish parties for the princess just on principle. Early on, Tatiana's parents had already planned to prepare the young princess for her eventual ascension to the throne. She was expected to become well learned, confident and wise in dealings with fellow nobility, and trained for combat should ever the princess find need to protect herself.
Tatiana's cousin Marquis Malaeno Castevel III governs the city of Castevel and is a father-figure for Tatiana. After the death of her mother in 960 AE, Malaeno would ensure to visit Portarosa and his younger cousin two weeks out of every month. He would often bring his family to ensure Tatiana would still have some semblance of a normal family life. While also seeing to the young princess' continued education. In the year 962 AE, Malaeno officially renounced his right to rulership over Varcia, announcing to the people his intention to entrust the tile and role of Monarch to Tatiana at the age of 16. To this day, Tatiana will often turn to her cousin for advice in her role as the queen.
Malaeno Castevel Jr, father of the current Marquis of Castevel, Tatiana's uncle, harbors a vile grudge against his son and the queen. The crippled elder took a major strike to his pride when Malaeno III renounced the throne. Wanting for his son to reign as the rightful heir to Varcia as Malaeno Jr. does not attribute the kingdom's freedom from Calandrian rule to the efforts of Queen Rosaria. Making no attempts of subtlety in claiming the kingdom has gone soft under the rulership of a woman. Thus, Malaeno Jr. believes that somehow Tatiana managed to convince his weak-willed son into handing over the kingdom to a child.
