Half-Elves are the product of successful, albeit rare, crossbreeding between humans and elves and are currently incapable of being a true-breeding race. As a combination of both human and elven traits and personalities, their rarity of birth and survival, half-elves are considered to be outsiders by both races. With some going as far as to only view a half-elf's worth as nothing more than an intriguing scientific object. However, given their otherworldly beauty combined with human versatility these incredible people are equally competent as members of either of their heritage. Half-elves are most commonly seen as adventurers, taking to the arts and the sword with their own unique flair.

Description

On average, half-elven men and women stand with their height maximums and averages reversed to that of humans. With half-elven women being taller than men, inherited from their elven heritage. They are still however shorter than their elven parentage. Half-elves bear the physical markers of elves, with the slightly larger almond eyes, fair and beautiful physical features, as well as shorter, pointed ears. While capable of being any body shape and muscular scale, a half-elf's body is at its most natural equilibrium when lean built. Finally, half-elves can exhibit traits from either parentage to greater or lesser degree. Although, the pointed ears are an unchanged commonality.

Abilities

Half-elves inherit the traits from their human and elven parentage. Which traits largely depends on the game system being utilized.

Personality

Like their human parents, half-elves tend to be idealistic, goal-oriented and driven towards a sense of purpose and belonging. But thanks to their elven heritage and slightly extended lives, half-elves do have the benefit of being able to see the greater picture. A sense of ease in the face of the unknown.

Society

Half-elves are quite adaptable given their circumstances. Being unable of fully fitting into human or elven society, they often lean towards that which is most welcoming or comfortable. Given the passage of time, more half-elves will undoubtedly be born and the creation of an entire culture for them is at that point inevitable. This process is still slow to progress as the current rate for successful impregnation between a human and half-elf fluctuates between 15% to 20%, and does not account for infant mortality. With time the effectiveness of half-elf births will rise but evolution is slow to move and perhaps magickal or even divine intervention may be necessary to speed it along.

Half-elves in society have been elevated and admired for their elven beauty, height and grace. While also being admired for their spontaneity, freedom and excitability.

Religion

Half-elves have no dedicated pantheon. They generally follow the gods worshipped by their society or parents.

Homelands

Half-elves have no true homeland and are wanderers. Carving a place for themselves wherever they are welcomed.
